Mr. Suresh Perera
Deputy General Manager (Products and Banking Development)
Mr. Suresh Perera was appointed as the Deputy General Manager (Products and Banking Development) of the Bank of Ceylon in January 2025. He brings with him over 23 years of service to the Bank, marked by extensive involvement in the Bank’s key transformational initiatives over two decades.
Mr. Perera joined the Bank in March 2002 as a career banker and was promoted to the Assistant General Manager (AGM) grade in August 2019. His experience in branch banking during initial years of his career together with technical exposure led him to become an agent for bank transformation later. During his tenure in senior management, he has held several key positions, including Assistant General Manager – Product Development and Business Process Re-engineering, Chief Manager – Organization Transformation, and served as the Project Manager for key transformation projects.
Throughout his career, Mr. Perera has played a pivotal role in many of the Bank’s strategic transformation initiatives. His contributions span large-scale restructuring projects that automated and integrated the entire branch network and major digitalization and innovative solutions. Notably, he was closely involved in the design and implementation of “BOC Flex”, the Bank’s flagship retail banking mobile application. His work has consistently focused on enhancing customer experience, operational efficiency, and digital capabilities across the Bank.
Mr. Perera holds a Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Management (Public) with Second Class Upper Division from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He also holds a Master of Financial Economics from the University of Colombo. In addition, he has obtained a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. Mr. Perera is a Life Member of the Professional Bankers’ Association of Sri Lanka.
With broad exposure across product development, process re-engineering, organizational transformation, and digital innovation, Mr. Perera brings strong strategic and execution capabilities to his current role. He continues to play a key role in shaping the Bank’s future by steering the Bank’s Digital Roadmap.
