  • Advances (Loans/  Overdrafts/ Off-Balance sheet Advances) against the Deposit: Allowed up to 85% of the fixed deposit amount.  
    Conditions:-
    a) Capital and interest shall be serviced monthly
    b) Interest Rate: 3% above the applicable nominal interest rate of the Fixed Deposit 
  • Can be opened only in Sri Lankan Rupee.
  • Joint Accounts are permitted with parties under the same category of Resident or Non-Resident.
    -Sri Lankan residents are not eligible to open and maintain joint accounts with Sri Lankan Non-residents or vice versa.
    -Non-residents, the account shall be opened with remittances received via permitted source accounts.

Documents
  • For Residents:
    -  Copy of the National Identity Card (NIC)/ valid Passport
    -  Address verification documents if the resident address differs from NIC
  • For Non-Residents:
    -  Copy of the Applicant’s Passport bio page 
    -  National Identity Card Number (shall be verified)
    -  Copy of Valid Visa or documentary evidence for foreign employment
  • Institutes 
    -  Required supporting documents based on the type of the institution (Registration    documents, Resolution, Ownership details etc.) 
Terms and Conditions
  • Partial withdrawals are not allowed. Premature closures are allowed subject to the prevailing penalty rules applicable for fixed deposits. 
  • Joint Accounts are permitted with parties under the same category of Resident or Non-Resident. 
  • The Original Fixed Deposit certificate must be surrendered at time of uplifting the deposit 
  • Lost certificates should be reported to the Bank immediately. 
  • Closure of accounts are allowed only at the account opening branch
