Savings Account

Any citizen of Sri Lanka over 18 years of age could open an ordinary savings account in any branch of the Bank of Ceylon which consists over 527 service points throughout the island. 
This is a very attractive savings scheme for every citizen of the country introduced by the Bank of Ceylon existing for the last six decades.

The following are the key features that entail the scheme.

• Longer  business hours for transactions.
• Unlimited  withdrawal capacity
• Attractive  interest payment to the minimum balance held monthly.

•  Documents Required To Open a Savings Account

• Account opening application (mandate form). (Applications are available in Sinhala, Tamil and English)
• Signature card
• National Identity Card or any other identity acceptable to the bank(photo-copy to be submitted
• KYC Check List
• Name and address verification document.

•  Account opening procedure

• Obtain application, signature card and KYC Check List from the Personal Banking Officer of any Bank of Ceylon branch.
• Complete the application form and the signature card of the language of the customer`s choice.
• Hand over the duly completed application form, signature card together with NIC or any other identity card along with the KYC document to the Personal Banking Officer who will endorse the opening of the account.
• Deposit the initial deposit requirement at the counter which is Rs.500/- or above
• Submit the deposit acknowledgement to the Personal Banking Officer who will issue the savings pass book immediately.

• Accounts of societies/clubs etc
• Limited liability Company accounts
• Sole proprietory accounts
• Partnership accounts
