Current Accounts

Bank of Ceylon Current Accounts can be opened at any Bank of Ceylon branch consisting of over 300 local branches with an initial deposit between Rs.2,500/- to Rs.50,000/- depending on the selection of the branch you wish to maintain the account.

Bank of Ceylon branch network is categorized as follows

• Corporate branch
• Supergrade branches
• `A` grade branches
• `B` grade branches
• `C` grade branches

The lowest initial deposit of Rs.2,500/- is applicable for opening an account at the `C` grade branch and an upper limit of Rs.50,000/- with the Corporate branch

Current Accounts can be opened for the following categories

• Individual accounts
• Joint accounts
• Accounts of societies/clubs etc.
• Limited liability Company accounts
• Sole proprietary accounts
• Partnership accounts
• Government institutions
• Local bodies
• State owned enterprises
• religious organizations etc.

The documents required to open a Current Account

• Mandate and the signature card (different mandates have been designed to different category of accounts)
• Introduction to be made in the Current Account mandate by any other Current Account holder or a person such as a doctor, Attorney-at Law or any other person acceptable to the Bank
• For business accounts copy of the Business Registration to be submitted
• For companies Account - copy of the Memorandum of Association and Article of Association duly certified to be submitted
• For society accounts, constitution together with list of current Office Bearers to be submitted additional
