L/C Advising

BOC has Correspondent Banking relations   with over 1000 reputed Banks all over the   world. Therefore, when your Letters of Credit (L/Cs) are advised through BOC you will   saveyour costs and time as your documents   are directly sent through one Bank.

Adding confirmation

As we have an  extensive net work of  International correspondent banking relations, BOC is in a position to add Confirmation to L/Cs  established by many overseas Banks giving an additional guarantee to the Exporter, eliminating the payment risks.

Negotiation of L/C  Bills

Our team of experts will check LC documents to submit them  free of discrepancies to the Opening Bank to obtain reimbursement without any hazzle.  Our efficient service will also ensure that your documents are negotiated within 24 hours the maximum and dispatch your documents quickly to the Opening Bank. 

BOC offers the best rates in the Market for bill negotiations; and the rates are negotiable depending on the value of the L/C.

Purchasing of Export Bills (DP/DA)

Your Buyer may not always agree to carry out   his trade transactions  with you through   Letters of Credit in which event obtaining your payments will be deferred. In such   circumstance BOC could help you  to obtain   part or full proceeds of such  Bills upfront by purchasing your  documents to meet your immediate cash needs.

We will arrange facilities to purchase Export Bills either on revolving or ‘One Off’ basis and continuous follow up action is assured until your payment is received.

Collection Bills

Export bills received (under L/C or not under L/C) are handled expeditiously and forwarded to the issuing /presenting Bank against acceptance or payment basis. 

Forward Exchange Contract

Forward Foreign Exchange Contracts will protect the exporter against adverse exchange rate movements. BOC provides expert advice and offers contracts to suit your needs.

Handling of  Duty Rebates

The claims of the exporters to obtain duty reimbursement under the scheme introduced by the Sri Lanka customs ( Gazette Notification No. 1053/12) are facilitated by this unit.

Other Services

When you engage in  international trade transactions,  you must know your customer before entering  into a trade agreement.  We can assist you by way of obtaining status reports on your buyers through our correspondent Banking net work which help you to assess the credit worthiness of your trade partner. We can also arrange   to obtain Buyers’ Reports through independent credit Agencies.

Before entering into a Trade Agreement you can obtain the Advisory Services from  BOC (team of exports) on Country risks, Opening Bank risks, structuring of L/Cs in a manner to minimize the risks involved in the transaction etc. from  our team of experts.
